Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate standard including Leaving Certificate Applied. All applicants will be interviewed. It is also recommended, but not entirely necessary to have studied art at leaving cert level. Students should demonstrate, at interview, an ability in visual arts via a basic portfolio of work relating to art and design, particularly drawing skills.

Work Placement

Work experience will be organised by students throughout the course year where they will have opportunity to work in the field of art and design.

Course Aims

The aim of this one year course is to faciliate students to produce a highly creative and informed portfolio.  The focus of the course is to enable students to explore and experiment with a range of artistic mediums both traditional and technical.  On completion of the course, students are eligible to progress to third level education both in Ireland and abroad in the area of Fine Art or to directly pursue a career in Graphic Design

Future Prospects

Graduates of this course have gone on to study degree courses in Visual Communications, Fine Art and other related courses in institutions such as DIT, NCAD and IADT Dun Laoghaire.
