The emphasis during the delivery of this
course is on providing students with the time and space to acquire
a strong hands-on experience of the various elements of media technology.
It offers a practical and theoretical study of Television and Film.
The preparation of a portfolio across a range of media topics is
also an essential element of the course for students who would
wish to progress to further education.
iMacs and HDV Camcorders and Editing, Final Cut Express HD, Avid DV Xpress, Adobe After Effects, Soundtrack, Protools and Creative Suite.
Leaving Certificate standard including
Leaving Certificate Applied. All applicants will be interviewed.

Throughout the year students visit or obtain work experience in Television Studios and
Facility Houses.
Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC).
Advanced Technological Skills Diploma.
Graduates are securing work in the areas of scriptwriting, directing, producing, editing,
cinematography, sound research and marketing.
There are also links to courses in DCU, NUI and Maynooth, including BA in Journalism, BA in Communications and BA in Media Studies. Students are also able to use their
portfolio to apply to DIT and Dun Laoghaire Art College for media and other related
courses.
It is also possible for students to join Year 2 of the Communications and Media Production course or join the Film Production course course in Colaiste Dhulaigh College of Further Education and progress to a degree qualification validated by the University of Wolverhampton. Entry requirements: Interview and portfolio of course work.
