This two-year course is designed to prepare students to work competently, safely and effectively with young children. It is ideal both for school-leavers and mature people seeking a formal qualification. Having successfully completed year one, students
progress to the FETAC Level 6 Supervision in Childcare Award.
Leaving Certificate standard including
Leaving Certificate Applied. All applicants will be interviewed.

Practical training is provided which is closely integrated with all aspects of the course.

First Aid Occupational Certificate.
The majority of students who successfully
complete this course progress to the level 6 second year. Where students wish to progress to employment,
there are opportunities that include working in Pre-School Centres, Day
Nurseries, Crèches, Child Care Residential Centres,
Hospitals and as Nannies. There are links with related
courses in Institutes of Technology in Ireland & the
Degree course in Early Childhood Studies U.C.C.
Successful completion of FETAC Level 5 Child Care, or equivalent qualification.
