The Health Care Support course is designed to prepare participants for a career working as a Health
Care Assistant in a range of settings such as general hospitals, nursing homes
and home help support staff. It is also an introduction to subjects likely to be studied
for nursing. The Community Care course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required for working in Community/Social Care eg family/community projects, voluntary organisations/drug awareness/homeless/refugee projects, etc.
This course is aimed primarily at early school leavers, those who left school prior to Leaving Cert. However we also accept applicants who have completed their Leaving Cert. Applicants with no formal education qualifications are welcome. A reasonable standard of spoken and written English is required.

The FETAC National Certificate is a nationally recognised award and gives students the opportunity to progress to higher education or into employment
in a range of health care settings.
Students on the Community Care course wishing to progress to a Certificate, Degree or Diploma in Social Care, Applied Social Care, or Childcare can avail of places under the Higher Education Links Scheme, a number of places in designated Third Level Colleges are available to holders of FETAC Awards. |
