INTRODUCTION TO NURSING STUDIES(Course
no. 138) Duration: One year full-time course - FETAC Level 5 Nursing Studies Award DCHSN
Aims This course is designed to prepare students
for access to Nursing Education Programmes. It is an introduction
to subjects likely to be studied for nursing.
It is a preparatory course for students who intend to go on to
further training for the four year degree in Nurse Training both
in Ireland and England.
Entry Requirements Leaving Certificate standard including
Leaving Certificate Applied. All applicants will be interviewed.

Work Experience (1 day per week)
Assessment & Certification FETAC Level 5 Certification

Future Prospects Currently there are 72 places offered to students who successfully meet the FETAC criteria for nurse training in Ireland. These criteria apply to all colleges who run the FETAC Level 5 Introduction to Nursing Studies Course. Throughout the years we have seen many students successfully undertake their Nurse Training in the UK. Many are now practicing in Ireland
Employment Many Students go on to work as Healthcare Assistants which others continue their Nurse Training.
